Guided by a belief that everyone deserves a seat at the table, Takiyah’s purpose is to help others to help themselves find a voice and contribute to decisions that affect their lives.
Takiyah works to promote community well-being by encouraging collaboration between different community stakeholders. As Coalition Manager for United Way of Southern Nevada, she helps others align their efforts, define a shared vision of success and then amplify what
works.
Takiyah is a professional herder of cats. Her herding roles have included local & national community organizing, leadership development, operations management, and community based participatory action research with coalitions in Miami, FL.
Takiyah earned a BA in Economics from Binghamton University – SUNY and a MSEd in Community & Social Change from the University of Miami. Using systems thinking while focusing on community assets and sustainable results, she encourages self-sufficiency through organizational efficiency, community engagement, research and facilitation.
Takiyah is an avid Sudoku player and Karaoke All-Star. She can count to nine very fast and is equally as likely to integrate music lyrics into a conversation than reference a research study or best practice.
