As United Way of Southern Nevada’s Senior Marketing Director, Laurie has had substantial success in creating strategic marketing, advertising, social media and public relations campaigns. Laurie has helped to increase the visibility and reach of an organization that unites more than 300 workplace campaigns, 400 nonprofit groups, 2,000 volunteers and 20,000 donors.
Laurie is passionate about serving Southern Nevada and providing all residents opportunities to succeed through the organization’s cradle-to-career support in early education, student success, postsecondary attainment and workforce advancement.
Throughout her career she has focused on developing strategic partnerships across trade, business, and the media. Laurie joined United Way of Southern Nevada after serving as Orange County United Way’s Communications Manager where she effectively increased media placements by over 100 percent. She also served as the Vice President of Communications for the Irvine Chamber of Commerce where she leveraged community connections to fund advertising, collateral and media campaigns.
At United Way of Southern Nevada, Laurie secured over $2 million in earned media and in-kind advertising and increased statewide volunteer and donor support through the ‘Day of Caring’ and ‘Nevada’s Big Give.’ Through her direction, United Way received the 2017 Nonprofit of the Year Angel Award and Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award. She created consistent messaging and marketing collateral to communicate the impact of United Way’s work, which boosted giving to United Way by over 50 percent.
Laurie serves as the Community Relations Chair for Leadership Henderson and was a 2018 Leadership Henderson High School Leader and 2017 Leadership Henderson Graduate and Class Speaker. Laurie has a spirit of adventure and loves to explore the wild outdoors. On the weekends, she can be found offroading with her husband and three dogs in their Jeep Rubicon, bike riding to Boulder City, going to church, jogging with her dogs or taking them for a hike at Mt. Charleston. With a passion for healthy living, she loves to run and cook. Although she grew up in Orange County, Calif., she loves the city of Henderson and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
