Karl Catarata

Karl Catarata is a Filipino-American author and community organizer. He is currently a student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas studying for his Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science with a minor focus in Leadership and Civic Engagement. He currently works as a District Representative for U.S. Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03).

Born and raised in Nevada, Karl graduated from Valley High School’s International Baccalaureate program. After graduating, Karl has worked with hundreds of public and private sector groups to achieve small results that help connect and grow large communities across the Silver State.

In the 2018 election, Karl organized with various nonprofit groups in the fight for safer schools, LGBTQ equality, equal pay, and better college accessibility. In the news, Karl is most notable for his work on gun safety and voting for young adults, in which he organized one of the largest marches in Downtown Las Vegas, with thousands of Nevadans showing up to support and volunteer. Karl has been a vocal advocate across the country for both students and working-class families. Karl lives in Las Vegas with his family and his husky, Klyde.
