Ernie Rambo, a fourth-generation educator, taught and led in Clark County, Nevada middle school classrooms for twenty-nine years; and as a classroom educator for 31 years in elementary and middle schools. Ernie is a National Board Certified Teacher (Early Adolescent Generalist) and earned a PhD in Education (professional Studies). Still seeking to ensure that all of Nevada’s students receive the finest education, Ernie currently develops, implements, and sustains teacher leadership opportunities as the Programs Coordinator with the Nevada National Board Professional Learning Institute: Empowering Teachers as Leaders and Learners. Past highlights in her career include teaching at an international school in Cali, Colombia, being selected as a Southern Nevada Writing Project Fellow and a Nevada Science Project Fellow. Ernie led a team of educators to produce five ECET2 SW conferences, sponsored through Arabella Advisors with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in Nevada and California.
Within the Las Vegas community, Ernie served on the board for the Las Vegas Track Club and currently serves on the board for the Las Vegas Chapter of the International Association of Women. Her love for Nevada and the outdoors led her to complete two trans-Nevada runs (2004, 2005) totaling about 1800 miles on foot, providing opportunities to engage with and learn from Nevadans across the state. Learning is a persistent theme with Ernie – and she looks forward to continued learning and serving others through engagement with the Jameson Fellowship and future opportunities.
